Illustrated Faith Revival Camp: Week 11

I can’t believe that this journey of Revival Camp is almost over! If you’re just tuning in…here’s the scoop! This summer, Illustrated Faith hosted an online workshop called Revival Camp. What does that mean exactly? Well, an online workshop means you can go as you like, or as you need. There are 12 weeks of content. Each week, they released a new devotional to go along this theme of Revival Summer Camp, working through the book of Nehemiah. There also has been a video with Shanna (and one from Elaine!), just talking about the topic and working through the creative sides of it as well. We were provided with a Field Notes notebook and then could process however we’d like. For me each week, that has meant reading the devo and art journaling a bit alongside it, completing the Field Notes for each week (important words, prayers, notes, take-aways), Bible Journaling a passage in my Bible, and then blogging my deeper thoughts! It’s been a busy summer but it has been so cool to see God at work.

imageWeek 11 had the title of Wild and I wasn’t totally sure where it was going to go…until we got there…and then I couldn’t think of anywhere else to go but here. We focused in on God’s amazing and wild and crazy love for us. Do you ever have those moments where you can tell God just really wants you to learn something or focus on something? And you just know that’s the case because every where you turn, that topic or theme is super prevalent? In life, relationships, conversations, worship songs, church messages, devotionals…literally everywhere you turn. Yeah, I had one of those kinds of weeks!

imageAs I sat and waded through this topic of His wild love for me, Tonya asked us to look at how our testimony shows off His love. All I could think was, His love is ALL OVER my story. It’s the prevalent theme. He’s the main character. His love is the driving motive. (Sorry to get all English Major crazy on you!) He has written my story and now, it’s my job to tell it.

imageThe passage of Nehemiah that we walked through was really cool. They are telling their story–their history–and purely acknowledging God’s amazing presence in each and every moment. Over and over He was faithful and loving. He never holds back His love. It is wild and crazy! He love and passion for me is the same–intricately woven throughout my story. Over and over He provides. My story isn’t about me and how I overcame, but how He carried me through.

imagePart of what has been hitting me every which way I turn is that so often I underestimate His wild love for me. I know He loves and provides for me…that’s too obvious to deny. But I suffer with feeling unworthy of that love sometimes. So often in my every day life, I struggle with feeling like I am not good enough. This week, it’s just been washed over me–over and over and over–that it’s not about me! His love is so much bigger than that. I just need to wipe those lies out and listen to the wild proclamations of God’s love for me! I cannot deny all He has done in my life…that is all the proof I need that He loves me so freaking much and I better just accept it! 🙂

Once I do that, I’m able to share my story and His love with so many more. One of my passions is that people shouldn’t face these hardships alone. As I share my story, I’m sharing His love…shining the light back on Him. But I think that’s next week’s topic, so we’ll wait on that!

imageI’ll leave you with the lyrics of a song that has been on repeat for me this week, that really illustrated this point–“Fierce” by Jesus Culture.

Before I call
Before I ever cry
You answer me
From where the thunder hides
I can’t outrun
This heart I’m tethered to
When every step
I collide with You

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce

You cannot fail
The only thing I’ve found
Is through it all
You never let me down
You don’t hold back
Relentless in pursuit
At every turn
I come face to face with You

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce

You surround me
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
His love is fierce
Your love is fierce
You never let go
Your love is fierce
Even now You surround me
Your love is fierce
Always always
His love is fierce
